Upper Savage River Report 3/16/2018.

The Upper Savage Watershed is running low and clear. The fishing has been excellent! Subsurface Brook Trout fishing in the tributaries to the lake has been fantastic. Rainbow trout have been stocked in the Upper Savage River, keep in mind it opens up on April 1st! However, this post is not about the fish!

A lot of people have been asking me how to 'match the hatch' in the Upper Savage Watershed. I figured I would do you one better and take out the D-Net to show you what exactly is living there!

This was a very quick sample! I did not dig deep into the streambed. I wanted to just scratch the surface of the streambed so that you could see the type of foods that are available for trout RIGHT NOW!  Take a look!

If you would like to see more stream reports like this one, LET ME KNOW- Leave a comment or shoot me an email! I can do a more traditional sample to show folks all the bugs in the stream, you would be surprised how many there are! I could do the same thing on the Lower Savage River and on the North Branch! Just let me know!

I want to make this blog more useful to anglers! Let me know what you want to see!
