Tenkara(ing) the Savage!

I broke my TFO Tenkara rod and just got the replacement in the mail, you know I had to break it in! The Savage River is AS GOOD AS IT GETS. I had them on dries and wet flies. The uptick in flow today should only improve the fishing. The water has had just a little color to it,  perfect for fishing. 

Skunked Sharking...

The onshore wind was unrelenting for this quick trip to the beach. No Sharks were caught but we did see a ton of cool species.

Rainbow Warriors.

I must say trout are pretty tough! If you hook a fish deep or in a place that may cause more damage if removed- CUT THE LINE and leave it. This is the first time I have seen a rubber worm and hook completely pass through a fish, pretty amazing, but it is a testament to their resilience. 

The Shocking Truth...

I volunteered to help during the shocking survey of the Savage River, and guess what, there are plenty of brown trout in the Savage. Suprise Suprise. 

Non-Stop Trout Fishing!

Western Maryland is FULL of trout!! Browns and Rainbows 

Saltwater Escape.

Took a quick trip to the beach and was able to catch a Taylor Bluefish Blitz on the beach. There are some much bigger fish around but these were fun to play around with.  

Some Solid Fish....

Nailed a few solid fish this evening, but I have to say, I much prefer picking the stream apart. Hooking a big fish by surprise is way more fun than specifically hunting big fish and ignoring all the smaller ones! However, these were some solid fish!    

Navigating the Raft through the Rain.

 The rain let up long enough for us to slip down the river and stick a few Rainbows.

Raining Bows...

Managed to navigate the rain and land a bunch of Rainbows... with Morgan from the Frostburg University Fishing Club!
